Web Device – Archos Arnova Puts Other Clock Radios to Shame
Just when you thought nobody else could come up with yet another overpriced clock radio to part you with your hard earned cash, Archos steps up to the plate with the new Arnova. In spite of its wonky name, the Arnova is actually quite an attractive piece of tech.
It sports a 3.5 inch touchscreen and comes ready to connect you to world of music with over 12,000 streaming stations and 1,500 web televisions stations. The Arnova also has a built-in SD slot so you can fill it full of your own commercial free music. It’s even got a FM receiver if you’re feeling nostalgic.
The simplicity of the things design is what really struck me. It’s clean, precise, and not a bit ostentatious. The simple menus and controls make actually using the Arnova easy (which is a change from some of the super-detailed music players I’ve seen out there).
One of the big drawbacks is that the screen is pretty tiny for a media player. If you’re using the thing as a clock radio only, it’s a welcome addition. If you’re trying to watch a movie on it, you’re going to be popping your eyes back into the sockets when you’re done.
No word on the issue price (or final release date) but you can bet that it won’t be cheap.
