The World’s First Dual Screen Android Phone

Sprint is trying to carve out a solid place in the mobile market for itself with its latest addition to the line up—Kyocera’s Echo. The phone is the world’s first dual screen Android phone and features two 3.5 inch displays running at 180 x 800 resolutions. When unfolded, the two screen work together to give users a single 4.7 inch work/play surface.
The hinge is one of the cool (and proprietary) components of the phone. It’s metal, for starters. Not only that, it allows the phone to be used in the closed, open, and semi-open positions.
Inside you’ll find a 1GHz Snapdragon processor sporting Android 2.2. While it’s not state of the art software, it has been tweaked to allow near-flawless dual screen usage. Those screens can pull double duty with seven core apps (email, web browser, etc.) that come preinstalled on the phone.
The battery life is pretty short, as you might expect for something putting out so much light. However, Kyocera is making up for that fact by bundling the Echo with an additional battery and an external charging case.
The phone is available now for $199 with a contract. Hit up the Sprint store for more info and the full specs.
